The CVCA football team hosted Manchester on Friday night in Week 10 of the 2022 football season. It had the potential to be a big night for the Royals and things played out almost perfectly. It was Senior Night and the team was able to honor the class of 2023 both before and after th game. A win would secure a home playoff game and leave a chance for a shared PAC-7 championship. The Royals started fast in this game as Junior
Dillon Webb took the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown. From there it was all CVCA. Senior
Kyle Snider scored a 10 yard touchdown and moved into first place on the career rushing touchdown list.
Ryan Wiehe connected with
Ty Bova for a 30 yard touchdown pass. Rick Levak added a 51 yard touchdown on an interception return and CVCA led 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Joey Kopec scored on a 32 yard run late in the first half to setup a running clock in the second half. Both team found the red zone twice after half time (Snider 27 yards, Webb 67 yards) and CVCA secured the 48-14 win. The finished the season 7-3 (5-2) and, with help from Canton South, claimed a share of the PAC-7 title along with four other schools. The Royals also secured the #7 seed in Division II Region 9 and will host Aurora on Friday, October 28th in the opening round of the OHSAA State Playoffs.
