The CVCA football team traveled down to Northwest on Friday night for a PAC-7 battle. The Royals and Indians played a tough back and forth game. The first half went by with no scoring. The Royals opened things up in the 3rd quarter with a touchdown pass from
Joey Kopec to
Ricky Levak. CVCA then went ahead 14-0 on a 60 yard run by
Joey Kopec. Northwest answer with two scoring drives of their own and score was again tied. With just over time minutes to go,
Ryan Wiehe connected with
Dillon Webb for a 29 yard touchdown and the Royals led 21-0. Northwest was able to convert late to score the tying touchdown and force overtime. In overtime, CVCA need just one play to score as
Kyle Snider went 20 yards on the ground for the touchdown. The Royals defense almost had interceptions on two different plays before Northwest found the endzone. The home team went for 2 and converted to win the game 29-28. It was a tough loss for the Royals, but they still have a good shot at the PAC-7 title and the OHSAA Playoffs.
