The CVCA football team headed south on Friday night to face New Philadelphia in week 1 of the 2022 season. The Royals and Quakers battled from start to finish in a low scoring afair. CVCA got on the board first with a safety in the 2nd quarter. A bad snap by New Philadelphia on a punt, almost led to a defensive touchdown for the Royals. CVCA maintained the 2-0 lead through the third quarter of play. New Philadelphia put together a scoring drive early in the 4th quarter and moved ahead 7-2. The Royals had a shot but couldn't drive the length of the field for the winning score. The team will look to regroup for week 2 as they host Kent Roosevelt.
