The CVCA football team hosted Canton South on Friday night. It was the opening week of conference play and the Royals were able to officially welcome the Wildcats to PAC-7 football. These two teams put together an outstanding high school football game. It was so good that four quarters wasn't enough. Overtime was needed to determine the winner. CVCA jumped in front early and led 15-0 after the first quarter. The Royals and Wildcats traded scores in the 2nd quarter. Canton South found the end zone just before the break to cut CVCA's lead to 22-14. The third quarter was all Canton South. They scored three times and went ahead 36-22. It seemed as though the momentum and possibly the game had slipped away from the Royals. However, this team isn't going to back down from a challenge. CVCA scored early in the 4th quarter to cut the deficit to 8. With 1:23 left in the game, they found the end zone again and converted the two point try to tie the game at 36-36. Regulation ended and it came down to overtime. The CVCA defense came up huge and forced a turnover on downs on the opening possession. The Royals pounded the ball in for the walk-off win. Senior Kyle Snider's 5th rushing touchdown of the night gave CVCA a 42-36 win in thrilling fashion. The team will hit the road in week 5 to face Triway.
