CVCA and Woodridge met on the football field on Friday night. It was a great night for high school football and the Royals & Bulldogs put together a great game. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Woodridge but delays on their turf field project moved the game to Wyoga Lake Road. The game started with a bang when Dillon Webb returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown. Woodridge found a 2nd quarter touchdown and the score was tied 7-7 at the half. The Bulldogs pulled ahead 14-7 part way through the 3rd quarter. The Royals were able to quickly answer and took a 15-14 lead on 2 point conversion by Max Smith (from Ricky Levak) after a low snap. Woodridge jumped right back in front 20-15 on a long touchdown run. The third quarter came to an end with CVCA down 5. Then the Royals ground attack took over. Three straight rushing touchdowns by Kyle Snider (4 total) pushed CVCA in front by a score of 35-20. Woodridge scored late but CVCA recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran the remaining time off the clock. The 35-27 win moves the Royals to 2-1 on the season. They will host Canton South in week 4 for their third consecutive home game.
