The CVCA football team travel up to Chardon on Friday night for the opening round of the 2023 OHSAA State Playoffs. The Royals, seeded 10th, and the Hilltoppers, seeded 7th, squared off in a Division III, Region 9 matchup. CVCA's offense struggled out of the gate due in large part to the strength of Chardon's run defense. Field position cost the Royals early and they fell behind quickly. They were never able to get things moving in the right direction, and CVCA fell by a score of 42-0. The Royals end the year with a strong 8-3 record that featured a 5 game winning streak down the stretch. It was the program's first 8 win regular season since 2008. The class of 2024 played a major role in this season's success.
