The CVCA football team hosted Northwest on Friday night. It was final home game of the regular season for the Royals and thus it was Senior Night. Both CVCA and Northwest entered the game 5-2. The first quarter ended with no score as the teams were feeling each other out. Northwest go on the board first with a long drive ending in an early 2nd quarter touchdown. CVCA answered with a touchdown drive of their own and took a 7-6 lead thanks to Northwest's missed extra point. The visiting Indians moved back in front with a field goal with just over 2 minutes left in the first half. The Royals ran their two minute offense well and scored another touchdown 21 seconds before halftime. CVCA converted their two point conversion to take a 15-9 lead into the break. A hard fought first half quickly changed in the third quarter. The Royals scored 16 points in 19 seconds to pull away from Northwest. After another scoring drive, the Royals defense forced a safety to move in front 24-9. CVCA returned the ensuing freekick for a touchdown and their lead went from 6 to 22 in a flash. Early in the 4th quarter, the Royals were able to go up 30 and the running clock as put in place. Northwest added a late touchdown and CVCA would win the game by a score of 39-16. The boys are now 6-2 on the season and remaining just one game back in the conference standings. The Royals will travel to Orrville in week 9.
