The CVCA football team opened the 2023 season at home on Friday night. The Royals hosted the Streetsboro Rockets in non-conference action. CVCA held a 15-8 advantage at the end of the first half of play. Streetsboro moved in front with two third quarter scores, but the Royals punched it in just before the end of the quarter to tie the score at 22. After a touchdown by the CVCA defense was called back, the Rockets scored to take the lead. CVCA's offense couldn't find an answer and Streetsboro scored late to secure a 36-22 win. Next up for the Royals is a trip to Kent Roosevelt in Week 2.
