The CVCA football team hosted University School in the first round of the OHSAA Division III State Playoffs on Friday night. The Royals secured home field advantage by earning the #3 seed in Region 9. University School was seeded 14th. CVCA scored first with a 1 yard touchdown run by junior

Ryan Wiehe. University answered with their own touchdown drive and the score was 12-7 in favor of CVCA. With the Royals set to receive the ball to start the 2nd half, they were looking to finish the 2nd quarter with a score. Freshman

Zac Anderson for a 30 yard touchdown pass through the air. With a 31 point lead, the running clock rule was activated. CVCA's final score of the night came on defense. Junior
Joey Kopec intercepted a pass and ran 44 yards for another touchdown. University was able to add a touchdown late, but the Royals won the game by a score of 45-14. With the win, CVCA advances to the 2nd round of the playoffs and secures another home game. They will host Chardon on Friday, November 8th at 7pm. The Royals and Hilltoppers met in the 2023 playoffs. Chardon hosted that game and came out on top. CVCA has now won 9 straight games on the season. That is the longest winning streak in school history.
