The CVCA football team opened the season at Streetsboro on Friday night. Streetsboro was able to score on the opening drive to grab an early 6-0 lead. CVCA found an answer early in the 2nd quarter and move in front by a score of 7-6. The Rockets found the end zone again before halftime and took a 13-7 lead into the break. A safety early in the 3rd quarter and an ensuing touchdown drive, left CVCA trailing by 15 points. The Royals never stopped fighting even after having a touchdown on kick return negated by penalty. CVCA scored through the air early in the 4th quarter and it was back to a one score game. Streetsboro extended their lead with a touchdown on 4th down with just under 5 minutes to play. They Royals scored with just over 1 minute left but were unable to recover an onside kick attempt. Streetsboro came out on top by a score of 29-21. CVCA now shifts their focus to Lake Catholic. The Royals will host the Cougars on August 30th.
