The CVCA football team hosted Canton South on Friday night in week 5 of the high school football season. Both teams entered the game with records of 2-2. The Royals started fast and led 14-0 after the first quarter of play. Noah Mammone connected with
Zac Anderson for a 14 yard touchdown pass to open the scoring. A few minutes later,
Joey Kopec broke through on the ground and scored for 42 yards out. Canton South found an answer with a touchdown early in the 2nd quarter. The only other scoring in the first half was a Wildcat field goal as time ran out. The defenses continued to make things difficult throughout the second half. CVCA scored late in the third quarter to extend their lead back to two scores.
Nick Schober found the end zone on an 11 yard run. After a huge 4th down stop late in the 4th quarter, the Royals were able to gain a couple of first downs and run out the clock for a 21-10 win. CVCA improves to 3-2 on the season. They will travel to Triway next week.
