The CVCA football team hosted the Geneva Eagles on Friday night in the second round of the OHSAA Division III Playoffs. The #2 seeded Royals entered the game after a bye in the first round. The visiting Eagles, seeded 10th, were fresh off an impressive road win over Alliance in the first round. This game was all Royals as it played out like many of the CVCA's games this year. A fast start and stifling defense led CVCA to victory. After leading 42-0 at halftime, the Royals would finish the night with a 42-7 victory. With the win, CVCA advances in the Division III Region 9
bracket. They will host #6 Akron East in a semifinal game next Friday in Royals Stadium. The Royals are now 10-0 on the season. This continues to be the best start in program history. Ten consecutive wins ties the record for longest win streak. CVCA has now won 20 of their last 21 games. The Royals are seeking their first appearance in a Regional Final after falling a game short in 2024.
If you arrived late on Friday night, then you missed a lot. The Royals quickly took control of this game with a lightning fast start. On the second play of the game, senior
Joey Kopec broke free for a 61 yard rushing touchdown. Just three plays later, senior
Brayden Harris grabbed an interception and raced 48 yards for the pick six. CVCA led 14-0 less than three minutes into the game. Senior
Charley Levak pushed the lead to three scores with an 11 yard rushing touchdown later in the first quarter.
The 2nd quarter was more of the same as CVCA built upon their lead. Junior

Wesley Keeler added a 5 yard touchdown run. The Royals capped off an impressive first half with one more score.

Joey Kopec ran under for a 62 yard touchdown with just 15 seconds remaining in the 2nd quater. It was 42-0 at halftime after a completely dominating first 24 minutes for the Royals.
With the running clock rule activated, the 2nd half went by fast. Geneva was able to add a 4th quarter touchdown as the Royals were able to gets lots of guys into the game. CVCA out gained the Eagles 386 to 102 yards, with 52 yards coming on Geneva's scoring drive. It was another impressive performance out of the CVCA defense. The held Geneva to just 13 yards in the first half. They recorded three interceptions and one touchdown on the night.
