The CVCA football team traveled to Canton South on Friday night. After being Open in Week 1, the Royals were hungry and ready to go in Week 2. To say CVCA started fast would be an understatement. The Royals received to start the game and drove the ball right down the field. Quarterback Charlie Levak toss the ball into the end zone and receiver Brayden Harris snatched the ball away for a defender for an 11 yard touchdown. CVCA's defense got in on the scoring just a few plays later. Reed Jones picked up a Wildcats fumble and raced 15 yards for a touchdown. The Royals extended their 1st quarter lead to 21-0 when Charlie Levak and Carter Walkley connect through the air for a 21 yard score. The second quarter was more of the same for CVCA. They added two touchdown drives to push their lead to 35-0. Charley Levak added a 1 yard rushing touchdown to his night and Wesley Keeler scored from 2 yards out. The 35-0 halftime score meant the 2nd half would start with a running clock. Canton South scored a touchdown in the 3rd quarter, but CVCA answered back with another touchdown of their own early in the 4th quarter. Zac Anderson scored on a 18 yard run to push the lead back to 35. With just over two minutes remaining, Canton South found the end zone game. The Royals ran out the clock to secure a 42-14 victory. The Royals defense was very impressive in this one. They allowed just one first down in the first half of play and forced two turnovers on the night. CVCA moves to 1-0 on the season for the first time since 2019. They will face Woodridge on Friday, September 5th.
