Friday night was the 2025 home opener for the CVCA Football team. The Royals welcomed the Woodridge Bulldogs on a beautiful early September night. It didn't take long for CVCA to take control of this game. Senior Joey Kopec scored two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to give the Royals a 14-0 lead. The CVCA offense then exploded for four touchdowns in the 2nd quarter of play. Senior Wesley Keeler scored on a short rushing touchdown. Joey Kopec scored his 3rd and longest (52 yards) touchdown of the night and sophomore Tommy Kopec scored on a long 59 yard rush. The final touchdown of the quarter came through the air with less than 30 seconds remaining. Senior Charley Levak connected with junior Zac Anderson for 22 yard strike. The 2nd half went by fast with the running clock rule in effect. CVCA was able to add one more score when junior Mason Frye scored on a 60 yard scamper down the sideline. The Royals defense stood tall all night and finished with the shutout. They held Woodridge to negative rushing yards on the night. With the win, Coach Nick Cook moves to 2nd place in all time wins with 32. CVCA is set to host Garfield next week for Homecoming.
