The CVCA softball team hosted Elyria Catholic on Wednesday in North Coast Conference play. The Royals took an early lead with three runs in the first inning of play. Elyria Catholic broke through with one run in the 5th inning and took the lead with 3 runs in the 6th inning. CVCA trailed 4-3 entering the bottom of the 7th.
Ainsley Davis singled to start the inning and later stole 2nd. She moved to third on a ground-out and scored the tying run on
Shaye Tepley's single a batter later. With the score tied, cleanup hitter
Leah Vojtko came to the plate. She crushed a walk-off homer over the fence in right center field to give the Royals a thrilling 6-4 win. The girls are now 2-0 in conference play and 3-3 on the season. They will travel to WRA on Thursday in non-conference action.
