The CVCA softball team hosted Holy Name on Monday in a big North Coast Conference battle. The Royals entered the game 8-3 in conference play and the Green Wave stood at 9-2. A win for CVCA would create a three way tie on top of the NCC standings. A win for Holy Name meant they would win the title outright. The Green Wave started fast and scored three runs in the first inning. CVCA responded with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Holy Name pushed their lead out to 5-2 entering the bottom of the 6th inning. The Royals pushed across 2 run in the home half to pull within one. The visitors scored 2 insurance runs in the 7th inning and held on for a 7-4 win. CVCA battled to the end in a very tough conference. They will finish 3rd with a record of 8-4. The girls now sit at 14-7 overall. They will host STVM on Tuesday night before Thursday's OHSAA Tournament game against Copley.
