Following back to back 5-4 losses, the Royals headed to Manchester looking to get back on the winning track. The CVCA bats were again quite for most the day and the boys fell behind early. A late rally would come up just short. Final score: CVCA 3 - Manchester 5
Manchester took the early led with 1 run in the first thanks to a 2 out single. From their, both team would go scoreless through the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 5th, the Panthers struck for 2 more runs.Â
Trailing 3-0, the Royals were able to respond with 1 run in the 6th inning.
Drew Wilson singled to start things off.
Steven Taylor followed with a single of his own. Two batters later,
Noah Brook singled to left driving in Wilson. CVCA would strand to runners in the 6th leaving the score at 3-1.
CVCA seemed to grab some mometum in their half of the sixth, but their defense struggled with a few errors in the bottom of the sixth allowing Manchester to add 2 insurance runs.
In the top half of the 7th inning, the CVCA offense picked up where it left off in the 6th.
Luke Leonard led things off with a single. After a strikeout,
Josh Thacker singled to center giving the Royals 1st and 2nd. Manchester recorded out #2 on a foul pop, but the Royals weren't done yet.
Steven Taylor drew a 2 out walk to load the bases.
Chris Punka followed with a 2 run single to right. After a
Noah Brook walk, The Royals had the bases loaded trailing by 2.
Tanner Judd ripped a line drive that went straight into the 3rd baseman's glove to end the rally and the game.
Chris Punka was 1-4 with 2 RBI.
Noah Brook went 1-3 with an RBI.
Luke Leonard was 1-1 with a pinch hit single. Stevent Taylor pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.
