The CVCA Softball team hosted Cuyahoga Falls on Saturday. The Royals and Black Tigers were supposed to meet as part of the Battle for the Falls Tournament on April 9th, but that tournament was washed out. Friday's rain wasn't enough to stop this doubleheader from being played. Cuyahoga Falls took game 1 by a score of 13-0. CVCA responded in game 2 with a 6-4 victory to earn the split.
In game 1, the Cuyahoga Falls pitching was the story. The Royals struck out 13 times and only had 2 hits. Lindsey Curicio pitched for CVCA and struck out 5 in 6 innings of work.
Abby Kebbel and
Kally Ashton picked up the hits for the Royals.
In game 2, the Royals offense quickly responded with 3 runs in the first and second innings each. The 6-0 lead would stand up despite a late Cuyahoga Falls rally.
Katelynn Justice pitched 7 innings for the win.
Lindsey Curcio hit a 2 run home run for CVCA.
Katie Sullivan and
Kally Ashton picked 1 2B, 1 R, and 1 RBI each.
