CVCA and Woodridge kicked off the 2016 high school football season on Friday night. This was the 6th consecutive year that the Royals and Bulldogs matched up in Week 1. It was a warm August night, but that didn't stop fans of both schools from packing Royals Stadium. The atmosphere was set, and it fit the narrative of Friday Night Lights in Northeast Ohio.
Woodridge started fast by taking the opening kick-off back for a touchdown. They would score six more times in 1st quarter. The Royals scored late in the 1st quarter on a 95 yard kickoff return by senior

The Royals will travel to Campbell Memorial for Week 2. This is be the first ever meeting between the Royals and Red Devils.
