CVCA hosted their 2016 Homecoming game on Friday night. They faced off against new conference opponent Orrville. It was a beautiful night for football, with temperatures well above average. Orrville jumped out to an early lead on this night. The Royals battled back and grabbed some momentum heading into halftime. In the 2nd half, the visiting Red Riders would pull away for a 48-14 win. With week 5 in the books, half of the 2016 season is already complete. CVCA will travel to Tuslaw next Friday for another PAC-7 showdown.
Orrville opened the scoring on their first drive of the game. They took a 6-0 lead on a 65 yard touchdown run. Later in the 1st quarter, they added another rushing touchdown. After an interception return for a touchdown and a rushing touchdown, the 1st quarter ended with the visiting Red Riders leading 27-0.
The Royals would fight back in the 2nd quarter.
Jack Atwood scored on a 9 yard run to put CVCA on the scoreboard. CVCA would score again just before half, this time in the form of a
Tre Tucker rush. He ran around the left side for a 5 yard score. The score stood at 27-14. The Royals were set to receive the 2nd half kickoff and hoped to continue to cut into the deficit.
After halftime, Orrville would score 3 more times on the ground and prevent the Royals from scoring again. Final Score: 48-14.
Jack Atwood carried the ball 6 times for 142 yards and 1 touchdown.
