Football falls to Canton South

CVCA hosted Canton South on Friday in the last non-conference game of 2017. The Royals and Wildcats were both looking to move to 3-0 on the season. It was a back and forth game throughout. CVCA had many second half opportunities but couldn't find the big play when needed. Canton South scored to final 2 touchdowns of the night for a 33-21 win. The Royals move their focus to PAC-7 play with a 2-1 record. They will travel to Fairless on Friday, September 15th to open conference play. The Royals defeated the Falcons 28-22 a season ago.

The Royals opened the scoring on their opening drive. They went 64 yards on 6 plays with Tre Tucker scoring from 28 yards out on the ground. Canton South answered with a 48 yard touchdown pass. CVCA was again able to drive down for a touchdown on the following drive. Tre Tucker scored another rushing touchdown this time from 1 yard out. The first quarter ended with the Royals holding a 14-7 lead. 

In the 2nd quarter, Canton South would find the end-zone twice. Both scores came on short runs at the end of long drives. They Wildcats had moved a head with a 21-14 lead. They held the Royals scoreless in the 2nd quarter and would receive the ball to start the 2nd half.

CVCA forced a turnover on the first play of the 3rd quarter. The Royals would cash in on a 3rd rushing touchdown by Tre Tucker to tie the score. Canton South answered with a touchdown of their own in the 3rd quarter, but a bad snap on the extra point left the door open for CVCA. Canton South led 27-21 entering the final quarter.

In the 4th quarter, CVCA had a few chances and was looking for a big play to flip the momentum. Unfortunately, there were unable to make that happen. Canton South added one more touchdown and their defense held the Royals' offense to little yardage in the final quarter. The Wildcats earned the 33-21 road win.
