The CVCA-Orrville football game on Friday night was primed to be a good one. It earned Fox 8 Game of the Week honors and was a matchup of 4-1 teams. The game was also homecoming for host CVCA. The Royals and Red Riders gave everything they had an exciting game. The outcome remained in the balance until the very last play. CVCA put together an impressive late rally, but ultimately came up just short. Orrville picked up a 37-34 road win.
The Royals to the lead on their opening drive. An impressive drive was capped off by a 4 yard touchdown run by
Tre Tucker. Orrville would score the next three touchdowns to take a 20-7 lead over CVCA. They held the 13 point advantage at halftime.
CVCA was able to force a turnover to start the second half and score on their ensuing drive.
Tre Tucker caught a pass from Micheal Bevington and went 48 yards for the score. The Royals now trailed by just 6. Orrville would again answer the score by CVCA with scores of their own. A 1 yard touchdown run and 28 yard field goal pushed teh Red Riders lead back up to 16. Before the third quarter ended, CVCA scored again.
Tre Tucker reached the endzone on a 48 yard run. The Royals' two point attempt was no good so they trailed by 10 points entering the 4th. Orrville scored on a 29 yard touchdown pass in the final quarter to make it a three score game. With their backs against the wall, CVCA did everything they could to win. They scored on a 2 yard
Dalton Duvall run, recovered an onside kick and scored again. This time on a 19 yard pass from
Tre Tucker to
Josh Junko. CVCA now trailed by just 3, but only seconds remained. The Royals recovered another onside kick to give themselves one final chance. They moved the ball into Orrville territory, but time expired before they could score again.
