The CVCA softball team traveled to Charleston, South Carolina last week for spring break. The Royals finished the week 3-0 to kick off their 2018 season. Each game played a bit different, but the girls were able to find a way to win all 3. They are now looking forward to starting conference action this week.
In game #1, the Royals were led by pitcher
Lindsey Curcio. She pitched a no-hitter over Academic Magnet going 7 innings while striking out 11 batters!
Jackie Budrevich went 2-4 with 3 RBI and
Kally Ashton recorded 1 hit and 2 runs scored. CVCAÂ earned a 4-0 win in their season opener.Â
In game #2, CVCA faced Oceanside Academy. The teams were tied at 2 until the 6th inning when Lexi Clements drove in
Coco Miller to give the Royals a 3-2 lead. That lead would hold and CVCA moved to 2-0 on the season.
Lindsey Curcio pitched 7 innings allowing just 1 earned run while striking out 3. Lexi Clements went 2-3 while
Kally Ashton,
Lauren McNeil, and
Coco Miller each recorded 1 hit on the day.Â
In game #3, CVCA and Oceanside Academy faced off in a slugfest. Both teams took advantage of defensive mistakes to score double digit runs on the night. The Royals were also able to knock out 17 hits on their way to a 15-10 win over the Landsharks.
Lauren McNeil,
Grace Hengsteler, and
Jackie Budrevich each pitched on this day and combined to allow just 2 earned runs. The offense was led by
Lauren McNeil and
Gia Gerzeny who each had 3 hits.
Kally Ashton,
Lindsey Curcio,
Jackie Budrevich, and
Grace Hengsteler each added 2 hits.
Coco Miller drove in 4 runs in the game while McNeil and Budrevich drove in 3.
The Royals will look to stay hot when they return to cooler temperatures in Ohio. CVCA is scheduled to play at Triway on Monday, April 2nd.
