The CVCA football team hosted Fairless on Friday in the first PAC-7 game of 2018. The Royals were looking to build on a big week 3 win over Canton South and start the conference slate off with a win. Fairless entered the game 2-1. The CVCA offense was again started fast in this game. The Royals grabbed a 14 point lead in the first quarter. They never looked back on their way to a 35-7 win. The defense held Fairless scoreless through 3 quarters, despite the Falcons reaching the red zone multiple times. CVCA is now 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Principals' Athletic Conference. The Royals will travel to Northwest on Friday, September 21st.
In the first quarter, CVCA got their rushing attack going early.
Jordan Decatur capped of the opening drive with a 3 yard touchdown run. On the Royals' second drive,
Tre Tucker went 78 yards for a touchdown and CVCA was up 14 points before many fans found their seats. The defenses won the 2nd quarter as neither team was able to find the endzone. While it felt like CVCA was in control of the game, Fairless would receive the ball to start the 2nd half and only trailed by 2 scores. The CVCA defense made sure the 2nd half would be just as tough for the Falcons offense.
CVCA added two more touchdowns in the 3rd quarter.
Michael Bevington scampered in from three yards out to put the Royals up 21-0. After another stop by the defense,
Tre Tucker took the ensuing Fairless punt 60 yards for his 2nd score of the night. When the quarter came to a close, the Royals held a comfortable 28-0 lead. Fairless was able to score their lone touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter. CVCA quickly answered with a score of their own.
Michael Bevington hit
Tre Tucker in the endzone for a 24 yard touchdown.
The Royals' defense continues to play very tough. In the team's three wins this season, they have allowed a combined total of 17 points.
Brock Simmons and
Dylan Hall were in the Falcons backfield all night and completely disrupted their offense. CVCA forced 4 fumbles, a turnover on downs, and 4 punts on the night. They allowed just 212 yards of total offense.
