Football defeats Northwest for 4th win

Friday night was anything but your typical high school football game. The game between CVCA and Northwest saw a little bit of everything. The start of the game was delayed due to inclement weather during pregame. Lightning would delay the game again early in the second quarter. Both teams were not a sharp as they would hope. The game included lots of penalties and turnovers by both sides. CVCA took a 27-8 lead early in the 2nd half and it felt like they would run away with the game. Northwest battled back and cut the score to 27-24. The Indians had all the momentum, but the Royals weren't going to quit. CVCA answered with 2 touchdowns to earn a 41-24 win. CVCA is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They will host Orrville on Friday night in a huge PAC-7 game. It is also homecoming for the Royals.

Both teams came out of the gates a little sloppy on Friday night. The first two drives for both squads ended with turnovers. CVCA got on the board first with a 15 yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Michael Bevington. The Royals' extra point try failed and they led 6-0. Northwest answered with a touchdown and 2 point conversion to take an 8-6 lead. CVCA would scored twice in the 2nd quarter to take a 20-8 point lead in to halftime. Tre Tucker scored twice on the ground to give the Royals the advantage.

Northwest received the ball to start the second half. CVCA forced a punt by the Indians and found the endzone on the ensuing drive. Michael Bevington hit Tre Tucker for a 42 yard touchdown pass and the Royals were up by 19. Northwest scored on their next drive and forced turnover to get ball back. They scored again and suddenly it was three point game at 27-24. The Royals answered with 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter and 3 defensive stops. Michael Bevington scored his 2nd rushing touchdown and Josh Junko scored from 1 yard out. CVCA's defense for 3 turnovers, 2 by downs, to secure the win.
