The CVCA football team hosted Triway on Friday night. It was week four of the season and week one of conference play. The Royals and Titans were looking to start the Principals' Athletic Conference slate off with a win. Triway struck first with a 79 yard touchdown drive on their 2nd series of the night. The first quarter ended as CVCA was driving down the field. The Royals scored early in the 2nd quarter on a 34 yard pass from Michael Bevington to Noah Atwood. The Titans answered with a touchdown and took 14-7 lead. On the next series, Shane Douglas capped a 71 yard drive with a 6 yard TD run. The Royals defense then forced a three and out to give the ball back to the offense. CVCA went 70 yards and Bryce Kightlinger kicked a 30 yard field as time expired in the first half. The Royals led 17-14 at the break with Triway set to receive the 2nd half kickoff. On their first drive of the 3rd quarter, Triway found the endzone to move ahead 20-14. Austen Williams took the ensuing kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. From that point on, the game was all CVCA. Andre' Price, Jr. scored on a pick six, and Michael Bevington's 45 yard TD run was the exclamation point on a 37-20 win. The CVCA defense played extremely well holding a high powered Triway offense to just 146 yards passing and 85 yards rushing. The Royals will hit the road on Friday and travel to Fairless.
