The CVCA football team traveled to Fairless on Friday night. The Royals and Falcons faced off for week 5 of the season and week 2 of conference play. CVCA controlled all facets of the game and returned home with a 31-7 win. The offense, defense, and special nights all had strong nights. The win moves CVCA to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. They will face a tough test in Northwest on October 4th. This will also be the Homecoming game for CVCA.

Noah Atwood took the opening kickoff 92 yards and the Royals led 7-0 just seconds into the game. Later in the first quarter,
Shane Douglas scored on a 40 yard touchdown, and CVCA led 14-0 after the first 12 minutes. In the 2nd quarter,
Shane Douglas scored his 2nd rushing touchdown of the game. This one came from 4 yards out with just under 4 minutes left in the half. The Royals defense held the Falcons scoreless in the first half. They forced 4 punts and 2 turnovers on downs. At the half, the Royals led 21-0.
With a 21 point lead, CVCA was hoping to the 2nd half would look very similar to the first half. The outcome of the game never felt in question during the games final 24 minutes of play. Fairless scored their lone touchdown of the night in the third quarter. They connected on two long passes on drive to cut the score to 21-7. CVCA answered with 10 points of their own in the fourth quarter to seal the game.
Bryce Kightlinger kicked a 23 yard field in the drive right after Fairless' touchdown.
Shane Douglas' 67 yard touchdown run was the dagger.
