The CVCA baseball team has the opportunity to play at Canal Park on Thursday night. The Royals faced the Revere Minutemen under the lights at the home of the Akron Rubberducks. CVCA went down early as Revere scored once in the top of the 1st inning. The score remained 1-0 until the 5th inning of play. Revere scored one more run in the 5th to lead 2-0. The Royals were able answer right away as they scored 3 times in the bottom of the 5th to move in front.
John Baker and
Nik Wirsching were both able to score on a bases loaded fielders choice and throwing error to tie the score. Senior
Ryan Wiehe singled in
Connor McGough with two outs to put CVCA in front. Once again the Royals pitching staff was rock solid.
Nik Wirsching went 3.1 innings allowing just one run.
Alex Mammone pitched 2.2 innings in relief and struck out 5. With a 3-2 lead in the 7th, CVCA turned the ball over to senior
Thad Eaton. He picked up his first save with a scoreless 7th and 2 strikeouts. Another highlight of the night was a career milestone for Coach
Jason Herblet. This victory was the 150th of his career (2016-present).
