The CVCA Baseball team opened their 2016 season on the road on Tuesday night. The Royals faced Cincinnati Christian in the first of two games during their spring break trip. The boys started their season with a bang, winning 19-0 in 5 innings.
Sophomore
Drew Wilson threw a perfect game for the Royals. He compiled 7 strikeouts in his 5 innings of work. He allowed no hits and no walks on the day and his defense did not commit any errors behind him.
The Royals offense also had a big day. The team collected 18 hits and capitalized on 5 Cougar errors. Ten Royals had a hit in the game including seven with more than one. Leading the way offensively was Senior
Chris Punka. He went 2-5 with 2 doubles, 4 rbi, and 2 runs scored. Â
Drew Wilson was 3-5 on the day with a double, 2 rbi, and a run scored. Senior
Trent Fantelli registered 2 hits, 3 runs scored, 1 rbi, and a stolen base. Junior
Chris Fair added 2 hits, 3 rbi, & 2 runs scored. Junior
Steven Taylor drove in 3 runs & scored 3 runs for the Royals. It was a big day all around for CVCA and a great way to start the season.
The boys will be back in action on Friday night in Louisville, KY. They will face Christian Academy of Louisville at 7pm.
